While Ranks are very important in any military based order, the Knights Templar USA has a clear pathway to knighthood.
Within the Grand Priory USA there are many ranks and opportunities for advancement. There are many opportunities to serve God, either in an established Ministry or in one YOU start yourself! Below are some of the Leaders that started out just like you!

Priories have many levels of leadership.
There are Priories covering every state of this great nation, most Priories have Commanderies in them. A commandry can even become a Priory once it grows to a certain number of Templars. Each Priory has its own leadership and rank structure.
The structure provides for a natural progression and roadmap to Knighthood. Positions are:
Page (PG)- A young man or woman, greater than 10 years of age but fewer than 14. A future Knight. At the age of 18, they will have the opportunity to petition to become a “Companion-at-Arms.”
Squire (SQ) – A young man or woman, greater than 14 years of age but fewer than 18. A future Knight. At the age of 18, they will have the opportunity to petition to become a “Companion-at-Arms.”
Companion-At-Arms (CAA)– They wear the brown mantle with a red cross. An applicant of at least 18 years of age under a probation period before becoming a Knight. This probation lasts 6 months. If the Prior accepts them, they receive their Certificate at the end of this period. If they are not accepted, their $65 is returned. Templar Academy of America CAA Training
Sergeant (SGT) – They wear the black mantle with a red cross. All Sergeants are required to complete the Templar Academy of America Sergeants Training. After the initial 6-month probation period expires, all accepted members become eligible for promotion from CAA to Sergeant. A member will need to spend no less than 6 months as a Sergeant.

4) First Sergeant 1SGT
5) Master Sergeant MSG– of which there is only one in the entire Order. The Master Sergeant assists the Sergeant Major within the Templar Training Academy of USA as assigned.
6)Sergeant Major SGM– of which there is only one within the order. The Sergeant Major is responsible for Duties within the Training Academy of USA as assigned.
Command Sergeant Major CSM– of which there is only one within the order. This is a Knight level appointment.
Knight KT– Knights wear the white mantle with a red cross. Membership in the GPMTJ/KTUSA does not convey the “Royal” right to the title “Sir”, however, it is appropriate and in keeping with American Customs to address Male Knights as Sir and Female Knights as Dame.
Those males who reach Knighthood in are termed “Knight” with the honorific title being Chevalier, and females are termed “Dames” OR “Knight” with the honorific title of Chevaleresse (or Chevalière).
Knight Lieutenant KLT – A “Knight Lieutenant” is a ranked Officer within a Priory or Commandery that is trusted for extra responsibility and duties.
Knight-Captain KCP – A Knight Lieutenant who has proven themselves as an officer and is being given more responsibility within the Priory.
Knight Major KMJ– A Knight-Captain who has highly proven themselves as an officer and has gone above and beyond. They are being given more responsibility within the Priory. .
Commandant COM– A Knight who is given a Commandery consisting of approximately 5 Templars besides the Commandant.
Master Commandant MCOM– A Commandant who has approximately 6 members in their Commandery and has demonstrated leadership above and beyond their Priors expectations.
Prior PR – A Prior oversees a group of approximately 20 members.
Provost PVST – A Prior who decides to retire but who wants to remain available for national assignments.
